Ingleborough from Chapel-le-Dale
Every time I think I know every way up each of the Yorkshire
3 Peaks, I discover another. This time, it's the way up Ingleborough from
Chapel-le-Dale.
Driving over with some friends who were caving in Great
Douk, I set aside 3 hours for this walk. I was desperate to introduce my new
tattoo of Pen-y-ghent to its inspiration, and this clear day was perfect for a
view across.
The walk from Chapel-le-Dale was icy, with some of the path
stones fully iced over with black ice which was pretty deadly. I had to walk on
the grass at several points, forced to commit my personal pet peeve of Footpath
Erosure.
This walk is all casual and fun until suddenly there's 100m
of up in approximately 100m of across - lovely.
